Description

3/4″ bore tandem (2 reservoirs) brake master cylinder for some 68 – 73 Datsun 510’s. OEM, Japan.

We have heard of a number of roadster owners using this master cylinder with some modifications as a more economical replacement for the Datsun Roadster brake master cylinder.

We have listed below some of the modifications that we’re aware of but there are probably others and it goes without saying that using this part for a different application than what it was intended for is done at your own risk!!

The cylinder is about 3/8″ longer so it wouldn’t work with the Solex carbs and may even have an interference problem with the stock SU air filter housing.
The outlet valve brake line threads are M10 rather than 3/8-24 so adapters would be necessary.
The push rod is too long even at its’ minimum length so you’ll need to swap it out and reuse your original one.
The bleed valves exit the right side of the cylinder rather than the left side.
The reservoir fill line aren’t correct for the roadster application as the roadster brake master cylinder is not “level” when installed.

Again, as stated above, using and installing this part for other than the original intended application should only be done after consultation with a professional mechanic and is always done at your own risk.!!
